Your Face on Winx Club 100?

In preparation for the 100th edition of the Italian Winx Club comic magazine, a 16 character code can be found in the 98th issue. With this code, you can gain access to a new mini-game where you can create your own issue 100 cover. Judging by the picture above, does that mean you can put your face over Bloom's? It seems like it. I bet that this is a good way to put your own fan character's face if you are not so artistically inclined. Either way, you can create your Winx Club magazine cover.

For those of you who do not live in Italy, you can buy issue 98 on Muscara.com for 4.50 euros before shipping to get the code. Issue 98's comic is called "Return to the Amazon." (Doesn't that seem like the perfect way to bring in a Huntik character?)

Are you prepared to let Roxy go?

I'm not going to argue about whether or not Roxy is a real member of the Winx Club in this post. That topic has been beaten to death across the internet.

Instead, I wonder: are fans ready to accept that Roxy may not appear in season five? EDIT: As pointed out, (I genuinely forgot that) Roxy will appear in season five. Thanks, guys!

The point wasn't to argue whether she will appear or not in season five, but to wonder how viewers would feel that an important character who drove much of season four be demoted to a unimportant role in the next season.

Clearly, she has not been featured in any of the recent merchandise or previews for season five, which makes me think that she won't appear at all (or that it just proves that she was truly a temporary important character). On the other hand, she appears frequently in the comics just like Aisha and has her own article section, making me think that she has some sort of permanence in the series. (For those of you who don't know, Aisha and Roxy sometimes don't make appearances in certain comics, leaving just the original five.)

Personally, I don't mind that Roxy does not appear in season five. I would be a little disappointed, but I could cope with the idea. As for other fans, I think they might either go crazy. Are you prepared to let Roxy go?

Halloween in December?

If you will remember correctly, three Monster Mission comics are planned to be released to help promote the HalloWinx doll set. The first one featuring Flora fighting werewolves was already released and can be bought at Muscara.com.

October is finished and so is Halloween. By the time the next Monster Mission (featuring Bloom) comes out, it will be mid-November which is the beginning of the Christmas season for most. By the time that the last one (featuring Stella) comes out, it will be probably a week before Christmas Eve.

Why would Rainbow plan a three-issue Halloween-themed comic series that ends at the height of the Christmas season? Are you going to really be in a Halloween mood during Christmas still?

Winx Mag 91

The issue featuring the HalloWinx outfits has arrived! It's a fifty page issue rather than the usual sixty-six, so it probably has a shorter comic or less content. You can buy a copy from Muscara.com.

I'm curious to know, what do you think about the fairy pets coming back with a themed design in the comic above? Do like the fairy pets or are they something you wished that stayed back in season four?

HalloWinx

If you haven't heard from Una di noi already, Rainbow is going to make a special series of Halloween themed dolls called HalloWinx! These dolls will also come with a goth-ified version of their fairy pets. Three minute special episodes and a videogame will also be released in tandem with this series.

This is what the dolls will look like:

The premise for this doll line is that the Winx are dressing up to look like witches to find out what the Trix's evil plans are.

Three special comics, also known as Monster Missions, will also be released featuring three of the Winx fighting horror movie monsters. The first comic will feature Flora (with a sword!) fighting a werewolf; Bloom against a vampire and Stella against a mummy.

Winx Comics at H & J for 15� to 1$

H & J Liquidators and Closeouts, Inc is selling the first and second issue of the Winx Club comic for 15�. These are the comics were translated in English for the 4kids franchise which explains why there is a 4kids logo on the cover. However, there is a catch: H & J sells their products in bulk and so you must buy a minimum of 100 issues of either the first or second issue. They will not let you buy the comics individually.

Also, they are selling the third issue together with a paquet of six Winx Club trading card game cards for 1$ but a minimum purchase of 50 units is required.

Winx Club and PopPixie Magazines Available in Qu�bec

The Winx Club and PopPixie French comic magazines are officially available in the province of Qu�bec (Canada). They have been available since July/August 2010. These comics are imported from France. They cost about 9.30$ before taxes and about 10.60$ after taxes. The magazines are published by Panini France S.A. All issues, Winx Club or PopPixie, come with a freebie such as jewellery or school supplies.

They are not releasing the comics in the same order as the Italian ones, but to give you an idea, they are starting with the comics around Issues #60 to present. Issues before #60 are being reprinted in a hardcover book form by Panini Kids. Prior to Panini Kids, it was �ditions Carabas that published the comics in France.

Alongside with the regular Winc Club magazine are two other magazine series that publish the comics: Winx Club Jeux and Winx Club G�ant, Game and Giant respectively. Game publishes crosswords, word searches, quizzes, etc with a comic while Giant publishes 144 pages of comics and games (a regular issue is about 70 pages; Giant probably has two comics in it). The regular series is printed every month, Game, every two months and Giant, every three months and they all cost the same price about.

The magazine stand that I bought these comics are in Montreal at Carrefour Agrignon (7077, boulevard Newman, LaSalle) at Tabagie Gateway. The reprints can be bought or specially ordered at any Indigo or Renaud-Bray store. If you know more places where you can buy the comics, feel free to send an email with the address and it will be published with a credit to you.

On a side note, the Maya Fox series by Iginio Straffi and Silvia Brena is also available in Qu�bec (and thus Canada) in French.

Scanning the Comics

No, I cannot scan the comics, not because I do not have the means, but because it infringes on copyright. According to the copyright statement in the magazines, "All rights reserved in all countries. No part of this magazine can be reproduced or transmitted in any manner or form, including mechanically and electronically, online or offline, without the written autorisation of Panini S.A."
